How to apply

WEDC - Learn with WEDC: How to apply

Choosing a programme

From the wide range of programmes on offer, decide which is best suited to your educational and training needs, experience and qualifications.

How to apply

Application to either a full time taught or distance learning programme is made using the university application form along with supporting documentation as follows.

The University Application Form

You must first complete an application form, using either (i) the online electronic application form; (ii) the downloadable MS Word or PDF version of the form for submission by email; or (iii) by ordering a prospectus that will include an application form to submit by post. All of these options are available on the university website: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/admin/ar/admissions/pgt/student/apply/index.htm.

The recommended way to apply for admission to a taught or distance learning programme is to apply online. This allows the university to give a good service by processing applications quickly. Your application must be supported by documentary evidence of entry qualifications (including English language where appropriate) and academic transcripts. You are strongly advised to send your documents, including transcripts, as soon as you make your online application as we may not be able to make a decision about your application until we receive them. Further information and frequently asked questions and answers regarding the application process is available on the university website: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/admin/ar/admissions/pgt/student/apply/index.htm.

If you wish to study one or more module (s) for Professional Development rather than as part of a university programme, there is no application form to complete, and no particular qualifications are required. Instead please complete and return the Professional Development Module Booking form by the booking deadline. The form is available on the WEDC website: http://wedc.lboro.ac.uk/learn/learn400.html.

What happens after I've applied for this Programme?

Following submission of the above, the normal sequence of events is as follows.

If your application is deemed appropriate, then you will receive an official offer package from The Postgraduate Taught Admissions Office (PGT) (t: +44 (0)1509 222496; w: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/admin/ar/admissions/pgt/).

Email (for general enquiries prior to your making an application): pgtaught@lboro.ac.uk.
Email (use this if you have already submitted an application): pgtadmissions@lboro.ac.uk.

If your offer is 'Unconditional'

Please complete the acceptance form and financial confirmation form and return them to The Postgraduate Taught Admissions Office (address as provided therein or see http://www.lboro.ac.uk/admin/ar/admissions/pgt/). Please note the financial confirmation form is not required for distance learning students because they have to pay in advance of studying each module.

If your offer is 'Conditional'

You must fulfil all requirements of the ‘conditional offer’ and complete the acceptance form and financial confirmation form before returning them to the Postgraduate Taught Admissions Office. Please note the financial confirmation form is not required for distance learning students because they have to pay in advance of studying each module.

Registration

After you submit your offer acceptance form, these documents will be processed to generate a registration form. The registration form enables you to register as a student of Loughborough University. The completed registration form, along with a recent passport size photograph of yourself should be sent to us by either: emailing it to the Admissions Officer (wedc-admissions@lboro.ac.uk), or posted to The Student Records and Exams Office, Admin II, Loughborough University, Leicestershire. LE11 3TU, UK.

Booking Modules

All distance learning students must also complete and return the appropriate Module Booking Form by the stated booking deadline. Forms can be downloaded from the WEDC website: http://wedc.lboro.ac.uk/learn/learn303.html.

Scholarship, sponsoring and funding

Although WEDC does not normally provide sponsorship for students, from time to time, specific scholarships are available. Information is available from the WEDC website: http://wedc.lboro.ac.uk/learn/learn802.html. For further information regarding financing your studies please visit the university website: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/prospectus/pg/finance/international/index.htm.
